Endodontics
is a practice limited to the treatment of the root canal system.
These systems can be very complex and difficult to navigate, thus
the need for a specialty field. Dr.
Chang performs endodontic treatment using advanced microscopic
technology and rotary instrumentation providing excellent treatment
results.
Endodontic treatment is necessary when the nerve of a tooth becomes
inflamed or infected. Infection can be caused by deep decay, grinding
your teeth over time, an accident involving direct damage to your
teeth, or even a crack or break in your tooth. If nerve inflammation
or infection is left untreated, it can cause pain or lead to an abscess.
Signs of nerve damage can include pain, prolonged sensitivity to
heat or cold, discoloration of the tooth, or swelling and tenderness
in the nearby gums.
When performing endodontic treatment, Dr. Chang removes the inflamed
or infected nerve, carefully cleans and shapes the inside of the
tooth, then fills and seals the nerve chamber. Dr Halbleib, will
then place a crown or other restoration on the tooth to protect it
and restore the tooth to full function.
